How do we find the leak?

Water shows up on your ceiling a long way from where it got in. We start at the stain, work our way back up the roof, and check the flashing, the valleys and every penetration above it until we find the way in.

What do we actually repair?

At the small end: a chimney or vent re-flashed, two or three shingles swapped, a small leak sealed. In the middle: a rot spot the moss caused, a valley that has started to let go, flashing around more than one skylight. At the large end: rotten sections re-sheathed and plywood decking replaced.

What does the weather here mean for your roof?

Rain is the constant here, and moss on a shaded slope holds it against the shingles instead of letting it run off. Most of the leaks we trace start at a flashing, at a valley, or at a moss-damaged spot where the deck has gone soft underneath.
